My Dearest Daisy,.........

My Dearest Daisy,

By now you have settled in to your new home with a wonderful new family.

I watched as Carol took you by the leash and walked you over to the car.
You were wagging your tail and looked back at me. It was not a look of concern but one of trust, knowing that I was not putting you in harms way.

I spent all day yesterday after dropping you off, reflecting on our past glorious 4 days.
You are a very special girl and in just 4 short days, I saw you come out ,even more from your protective shell.

You showed me that you wanted to trust again so I slowly let you. By the end of the 4 days you were a regular family member, roaming the house as you pleased and sleeping on the bed at night with us and the other dogs.

Now you have a new name and a new life my sweet girl. Enjoy it, have fun and always,... remember the good things you have had the past few months, and not the horrible things before Diane and A & B came to your rescue.

Those days are long gone and you showed me you are now ready to trust again. I shall always keep you in my heart and hopefully, many, many, years down the road we will meet again at the Bridge.
I miss you very much and send you love and kisses.
Have a wonderful life.
All My Love,Wendy

And Finally,..........HOME!

It was love at first sight for Carmen and me.
Daisy (now Casey) was very friendly, and is making herself right-at-home.
She checked out all the rooms in the house and is now on the couch beside Carmen.

We got home from vacation on Sunday at midnight.
We were jet-lagged and gained 5 hours on the flight to Newark airport.
We slept about 4 hours and drove the 500 miles round trip to pick up our girl.

Where there is a will, there is a way and she is definitely worth it!

My sincere thanks to all of the wonderful, amazing people who made this happen. I am looking forward to the picnic and meeting everyone.
Sincerely, Carol

UNLESS.........

I must admit though it was alittle easier for me because I met her wonderful new family and new she was one lucky girl.!

Wendy,.... That's IT,.. YOU GOT IT! That's what makes Fostering so COOL!

People ask all the time," How can you let them go?"......and That is always my reply,."Our Dogs always go to such wonderful people,....., How could I not be happy???? Then I get to take in another, Setter in Need,....... and the cycle repeats,....one dog at a time.....!

I am SO EXCITED that my daughter and I are driving out to PA. in June. I can't wait to see several of my fosters that we sent from the midwest,.......
and of course I will be meeting many wonderful people that make this all happen!

It Isn't Easy To Say Goodbye

It's not easy to say 'bye' to a special one like this. Daisy and I spent lots of girl-time together...just us two. She's got a good ear for listening to all your troubles and just lovin' you back.
Diane

It was hard to say good bye to her, and now I can somewhat understand Diane ,what you must feel.

I had the big croccodile tears.

She sat up on her hind legs in front of me and then put her paws on my shoulders as if she knew she was going on, and wanted to say thank you.

She and I became quite close the past 4 days. I will miss her ,but plan on coming to the picnic next month ,so I know I will get to see her and others again.!!!!!!

One more Romp for Old Time's Sake!

Annie and Daisy were having a ball chasing each other around the yard.
They would go in circles around the picnic table and when Annie would get tired, she's small enough, she would get under the table to take a break because Daisy was too tall to fit under the benches unless she would scooch forward on her belly.
Daisy would sit there patiently untilAnnie would come out.

I heard Annie get alittle agitated and quickly got up to check on them - didn't want any fights breaking out.
Poor Annie, no wonder she was upset. Daisy had pinned her down on the couch and was sitting on her. It was hysterical. When I popped my head in, of course Daisy immediately got off of her andAnnie was once again free. It was so cute.!

Thanks for the update, we were wondering where you went to.!? Mom always starts acting really weird when it comes time for one of you A & B dogs to leave our house!!,.........what's an A & B dog???

You did have us scared when you first got here, we tried to tell you it was okay,....

We felt bad when we were seperated from you, and you watched us from inside,...while we were out having fun.

We do miss you,.. believe it or not Daisy,.....

Have fun in your new home, girl, and don't be a stranger,.... send a picture or two!

Love and Setter Kisses to you too!

Dear Anna and the Gang,....

Dear Anna and the Gang, ( anna is Diane's Bench/show girl, the rest of the gang are feild setters/therapy dogs)

Hey guys,.. Daisy Mae here,... yes the "mean girl" that stayed at your house for awhile, and got all the attention from Mom and Dad,....... I'm sorry about that. I wanted you all to know how sorry I was, that I was so mean to all of you,......... I really didn't know any better at the time,....

Right when I got there ,I knew what a nice place it was, and near as I could tell, I was going to be staying there, and I wanted to make sure that none of you were going to take it away from me,.......
You see, the place where I was before I came to your house, was awful, it was noisy, and cold, we had to sleep on the hard floor with no blankets,.... we didn't have any toys,... we barley were able to go outside, no one came to pet us and play,....they just threw our food onto the floor and we had to fight to get something to eat,....... Sometimes they would come by and take a dog out of the pen,..........and we never saw him again,..... Usually the older ones,......I didn't like that very much.
Then they came one day, and they reached in and grabbed ahold of me,.. I was scared!
Even though I did not like that place,.. I wasn't sure where I was going to.

Then I was introduced to two very nice people, they knelt down to talk to me..... I couldn't look at them,.......I felt shy ,.......They spoke to me in very soft voices,. and they touched me so very softly,.......... I will never forget that moment,.. for as long as I live,...........

So you see why I didn't want to share my new surroundings with any of you ,.. even though it was yours first?
I hope you understand,....guys,..... Thank you for letting me stay with you,......., so I could learn to be as nice as you all are!

Right now I am having a BLAST at Aunt Wendy's !....... This Is Great!!!!

Take care, all of you! I miss you!
LOVE and SETTER KISSES to all of you!
Daisy Mae!

Saturday,......in the back yard!

Daisy is doing just fantastic.
Diane you must be sure to tell her trainer she did a remarkable job.

I already told you that my Irish and Daisy were able to roam the housetogether with out any problems.
We still kept her separate from Annie, beagle and Dakota GShep mix though.

Well, yesterday low and behold Daisy forced the issue and forced her way out the back door to seeAnnie.

It was amazing Daisy WANTED to see Annie.

Last night Annie andDaisy slept together on the bed with me.

Today while I was out transporting Daisy introduced herself to Dakota.

We do, however, make sure they are not together unless one off us is right there.

Diane you would be truly amazed and proud of her. We never once tried to introduce them Daisy did it all on her own. What an amazing girl!

It's been a long day and right now, Annie,Daisy, Irish and I are going to take a nap. Bob took Dakota fishing(male bonding).

Friday Morning........

We had a great night. Daisy was finally introduced to my crew but only while she was crated. She did growl a little but no one seemed concerned.

This morning she was out in the yard with my Irish who is a 12 year old Bearded Collie/Terrier mix and they were fine together. Irish ignored her and vice versa.

She is here with me now at work ,and everyone just loves her. They especially like the way she scoots up to you and sits there waiting for you to pet her.

Although I will only have her a few short days Diane, I will find it difficult giving her up.

Landing in PA........

Since Daisy Flew into PA., Wendy is giving us the updates on Daisy, as She is temporary fostering her until her new family returns from Vacation.

This was Thursday afternoon:

Just got off tracking Daisy. She is en route.

Went and got Daisy's special dog food and treats (IVD) at lunch time so we are all set. I want you ladies to know that your "tax dollars" these past 2 days WERE NOT hard at work, at least as far as the government is concerned.

Too late now to get into anything since I'm leaving in about 25 minutes.
OK ladies, this is it.
I'm off to the airport.

Off to the Air Port!

This is Wendy, leaving work, to go pick up Daisy!

OK ladies, this is it. I'm off to the airport.

After Much Thought.....

After much thought, and 100 e mails, we have decided to "Air Mail" Miss Daisy,....... After speaking with her personal trainer, it was decided that 8 or 9 hours of stress would be much better than 3 days and 2 overnights with total strangers,..........
Now the next task that lay ahead of us would be to find someone to meet Daisy at the air port on Thursday afternoon, and then be able to take her to her temporary foster, until her new family returned from Vacation late Sunday,...............
But, hhhmmmm, who could take a "dog aggressive" dog,.... for 3 or 4 days,...????

Welcome to the New Life of Daisy Mae

The sweetest Little Girl, by the Name of Daisy Mae, has her bags packed, and is about to begin her journey to her new life.

A couple of months ago we recieved notice of a little setter girl, who had been in a shelter for along time in the hills of Kentucky,......

"Daisy came to us bearing the physical and emotional scars of abuse by other dogs she had been housed with and consequently she has a hard time trusting other dogs."

When Daisy was introduced to her "new pack" in her foster home, she immediately made an effort to enforce the fact that she was not going to be the victum anymore,.

It became clear right away that Diane was going to have to do something immediately, with poor Daisy,..... who was so very frightened,......

"She has attended obedience school and graduated with honors. In obedience class and at home with our dogs she has become brave enough to interact happily in controlled nose to nose contact with her canine friends. "

This was a huge step for Daisy Mae, where as before she would growl and and curl her lip. as the hackles rose on her back,.... pushing her new pack into a corner, where they huddled in fear,....

So join us in the celebration, of the new life of Daisy Mae.
